This was asked once before on this thread a long time ago... but what are some good programs to use to write? I'm looking for something minimalist. What do you all use?

I have gVim and FocusWriter right now.
>>
Wordpad

It really dosent matter unless you're looking for something to help with organizing notes and chapters
>>

Organizing notes most likely. What's a good way to maintain a database of texts?
>>
>>7699429
You cant go wrong with Scrivener. There are similar programs but none I can immediately recall.

Notepad.
>>

Pad and pencil.
>>
Not to tell you how to write, but the minimalist way to first draft is pen and paper. You think differently when using a keyboard or a pen, and it’s something to consider.

>>7699433
I love Scrivener, but it’s hardly minimalist.
>>

Paper and pencil is always great, but when it comes to notes on texts and commentary... I just type
>>
Vim.
>>

>Vim
Yeah, I was looking something more like this. It's not really supposed to be for word processing though
>>
>>7699447

yWriter is the free version of Scrivener and it's just as good. At least for me.
>>
Q10 for extreme minimalism no distractions

Scrivener for organising finalising etc

Paper and pencil for classic just as good if not better in terms of thought processes
>>
Stop being a hipster and use Microsoft word like the rest of people on earth :^)
>>
>>7699429

i like scrivener and microsoft onenote for this
>>
I use notepad or pastebin
>>
>>7699546
>pastebin
What? Why?
>>
>>7699542
word is so expensive though...
>>
>>7699577
Pirate it, nigger
>>
>>7699503
It has spellcheck, what more do you need?

It's designed for huge files.
>>
>>7699423
LaTeX
>>
authorea.com. it's originally for academic writing so citing is god-like

sadly, only one private document is free

but latex/word support, never lose your documents, version control, and an "empty" interface like I prefer it
>>
I use Sublime Text.
>>
Just use Vim.
>>
Q10 is nice, exactly what I was looking for
>>
LaTeX
>>
>>7699423
Dev-C++
>>
Vim
>>
I use a customized version of WordStar
