I really liked it when I read it but I had no idea what Caesar was trying to say before they killed him.

Sorry, Richard II is probably the best. Richard's speech in the jailcell is brilliant and almost perfectly describes the relationship people have between the world and themselves. But JC is great in its own right, I suppose it is largely a matter of taste at this point.

Still have never read any of his histories.

After you read about three of one genre in a row you notice a lot of recurring patterns. He was a lot less creative than people think he was.

yes. the tempest is masterful., as is twelfth night. midsummer night's dream was immensely creative but was a bit rough around the edges.
