A novel. A particularly good one. Good deal. Now delete this thread.
V.
For all its reputation it's actually a pretty straightforward book. It just takes a while to figure how Benny's world and Stencil's worlds fit together. But no, it's almost too simple when you come to brass tacks.
A particularly skippable one.

Pynchon's second best work after Lot 49

Pretty much this.
Apply yourself, OP, you're in for a threat.Chapters 9, 11 and 14 will fuck you up

Don't diss V. like this, Lot 49 is Pynchon's worst work after Vineland
>>7615587
shit. i was using the word 'best.' more accurately, I enjoyed Lot 49 and V. a lot more than his other books, and thought they were more earnest. they felt like a writer genuinely trying to tell you something about their world. I'll never understand why he wrote Gravity's Rainbow. In V., he argues that literature has a finite amount of source material to work, but then he writes 700 pages about a war that he didn't experience that occurred decades before GR was published. you would think he would maybe use his talent to make sense of the world in which he found himself. i understand he did this in Lot 49 and V., but even in V he gets bored and writes about different centuries and countries than his own.
That good shit

lol.

>everyone hates vineland
why? i read like a sample of it, the first maybe 5 pages, and it seemed ok. easy, but ok. i dont see how anyone can like bleeding edge over that

Don't listen to him. Vineland is always deprecated for either not being an encyclopedic doorstopper or for not being Lot49 2.0. I actually like it more than Lot49, Inherent Vice and Bleeding Edge.
