It's a lot like watching TV, except it's in your mind. I work a security job and there's long hours with little to do, so there are times when I want to do something other than reading, but can't. Books like these help me pass the time when I'm just trying relax.

I get stuff like the random culture-y books mcsweeneys publishes, biographies of jazz musicians, etc. and leave them on a table in my kitchen for when I have five minutes while cooking or whatever
