I recently picked up pic related because I want to into philosophy and I've been told these are the basically the classics. What are some other must read books for those who are interested in philosophy? I'm almost done with Meditations by Aurelius and am enjoying it, any recommendations for other stoic philosophers would be appreciated as well.
where's Philosophical Investigations

>Dover Thrift
OP, why do you do this
also anything from Diogenes
>>7574503
I'm a poorfag in college and the Dover Thrift editions were really cheap and highly rated on Amazon. How bad did I fuck up?
>>7574526
Don't worry about it. It's people complaining because it's the free domain writing and they hate you didn't buy the $20 introduction edition.

>Anything from Diogenes
Is this a fun joke?

Start with the Greeks, faggot. Read Homer, the Presocratics, and the Sophists before moving onto Plato and Aristotle, and then read all the major works of Western philosophy in (roughly) chronological order.
>>7574581
Yeah but u realise all his writings are lost right?
I only read philosophy that's relevant to what I do.

If you enjoy the Stoics (and you should, they're the tops when it comes to ethical philosophy [as opposed to epistemological philosphy]), then you should also read Epictetus, Seneca, and Cicero.
Avoid Diogenes unless you want to end up that scruffy-ass homeless dude who masturbates under the bridge and urinates on random passers-by.
the Greeks

Including you, desu senpai
I would start with the Problems of Philosophy by Russell.
Anything by Plato, Descartes' Meditations, and The Communist Manifesto are nice short works that will give you some grounding in the tradition. at first it can be nice to pump out a few shorter works instead of getting married to a magnum opus right away. There are so many people who had to respond to Plato Descartes and Marx that it will help you immensely later on
Dump these books in a trash can and get yourself a handbook of mathematical logic, and start with Frege and follow things chronologically. This is the only way.

The assholes telling the guy to start with the greeks and go through every fucking shithead since the beginning of time are the only autistic people here. History of philosophy isn't philosophy. Plowing through loosely connected books without focusing on key issues is a waste of time, except if you want to be some highbrow dude wearing a turtleneck and spewing incoherent strings of sounds.
