Why /lit/ thinks that anything popular is bad?
What is the psychology behind this snobbism?

I don't want to seem like a pleb on an anonymous message board made for Chinese cartoon porn.
>>
Classics are popular and are well liked here boyo

I think your question is more of why YA and genre shit is considered bad
>>
>>7567163
they don't

I don't think that at all to be honest.

See: W.A. Mozart, Shakespeare, Dante, Tarkovsky, Dreyer, Rembrandt, Michelangelo etc.

>See: W.A. Mozart, Shakespeare, Dante, Tarkovsky, Dreyer, Rembrandt, Michelangelo etc.
None of them are popular anymore.
Most people don't listen to classical music, nor read the classics.
>>
>>7567183
Well you see, those people don't deserve personhood.
>>

>nor read the classics

yeah no, tons of people read them, if anything you've just revealed that you hang out with plebs who don't
>>

>yeah no, tons of people read them
This is false.
Tons of people say they read them (like here on /lit/ for example), but most people don't

It would be like saying that most people don't exercise and many people lie about it. Most people don't exercise but there is a huge community who do exercise. There are a lot of people who read classics and those who read a lot of classics are probably much less likely to lie about readings classics because they have already read so many.

With how many people their are on the planet you can count yourself among the millions if you like Bergman, the tens of millions (perhaps even as much as a hundred million) if you listen to Bach.

When you have dedicated person, and a lot of them who spend their lives in service of something, with many, many millions of people who deeply enjoy it I find it difficult to not think of it as popular.
