How do I get into Gaddis?
>>7533733
Start with The Recognitions, and don't expect to fully understand is work on the first--or second, for that matter--read.
Read the Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupery

Since it was written in english, does the edition I purchase matter?
>>7533767
Shouldn't, no.

Thanks, anon.

No problem, anon.
Fun fact: Gaddis was best buddies with Gass.

Spit on your finger and loosen him up with it for a bit before you really get into him
Start with the Greeks

Hate when people lick their finger to tunr the page. It's disgusting and I never saw the point.

he was talking about anal stimulation

You'd be better off with this, OP.
I'm not being snarky, LP was a great read.

what is it about and why should I read this first?
>>7533733
with a bottle of wine and a roofie
The Recognitions is his easiest work, believe it or not.
After that, read Carpenter's Gothic, and then A Frolic of His Own. That should prepare you for the masterpiece that is J R, and then finish with Agape Agape. I almost recommend reading some Thomas Bernhard if you haven't, who influenced Gaddis.

best way to get into him? read one of his books. not being sarcastic. just read recognitions. it's a fairly high difficulty book, but it's incredibly worth the work.
