How do you guys feel about Spinoza?
>>7467512
Just like Milhouse never became a meme, Spinoza too will never become a meme.
Mark my words:
Spinoza will never become a meme.
>>7467512
Indifference
>>7467512
Great philosopher. Underrated.
>>7467512
Subjective.
>>7467577
>Spinoza will never become a meme.
Good.
>>7467591
>I use le epic dfw reaction pics
if we resurrected Wallace and told him in the future there are faggot nerds who use reaction images of his face on an internet forum he would kill himself again
>>7467512
hes my waifu
>>7467743
it doesn't sound like it was very hard to get him to kill himself. you'd resurrect him, stop him from killing himself, explain how imageboards work, stop him from killing himself, then explain /lit/, stop him from killing himself, then memes, stop him from killing himself, and then you can do the reaction images
>or just resurrect him forever to watch him kill himself
>>7467512
I can't wait to be a useless piece of shit and grind this glass all day
>>7467990
>grind this glass all day
?
>>7467990
What?
>>7468017
I'm afraid I'l have to confess being completely illiterate about him.
>>7467512
He's my everything.
>>7468017
I'm still on the Greeks. :/
>>7468017
>doesn't want to be an academic kuk
>leaves academia and takes up a less demanding job so that he can work on philosophy.
>>7468061
>this is what Jews actually think
i really loved pic related
i didnt care much for his DUDE MONADS LMAO stuff
>>7467512
doesn't matter whether you love him or hate him: keep it in mind that they are one and the same.
I have the same Hebrew name as him.
>>7467512
Subjectivism is terrible stuff, significant for the historical aspect of philosophy, but to me I don't like it
i wish he was still on our money
can't eunuch the baruch
>>7468688
"relativism" is just /pol/ speak for 'what is ethics?'
To give aid to every poor man is far beyond the reach and power of every man. Care of the poor is incumbent on society as a whole.
>>7467512
Spinoza is my homie for so fuckking many reasons
first and foremost he wasnt Earth/human centric, one of the first philosophers to envision a god but one which didnt give a FUCK about humans (which if god exists is almost certainly the case)
then he has some great shit on ethics, and again about the unnecessary insertion of our moral values into the universes ethics
spinoza's the homie, probably my favorite philosopher of that era altho desu senpai i cant lie i also love hume
DAMN i just fucking love philosophers i guess idk
>>7468087
leibniz??? bro come on this is DAY ONE shit
spinoza inspired leibniz not the other way around, spinoza wasnt LOL MONADS he was all about one single substance/force which was everything
>>7468775
fuck off with this bullshit m8
>>7467512
I feel he his absolutely correct.
His metaphysics are really interesting and unique, but they're kind of an end-point, you can't go anywhere with it. At least I don't know any authors that expand on Spinoza.
>>7469689
>At least I don't know any authors that expand on Spinoza.
Perhaps not expand, but portions of his philosophy can certainly be found in Fichte and Kant and traced back to his Ethics.
>>7467512
As a STEM major Ethics was an immensely engaging read
Definitely a unique and thorough way of thinking. Underrated IMO
