Isn't this kind of a silly question, since those who experience "cheap happiness" are typically unaware of its "cheapness", and those who are aware of its cheapness typically won't find happiness in it in the first place? How could anyone experience "cheap happiness" while being fully aware of its cheapness? Its oxymoronic.

You can't know (true) happiness without suffering, so happiness can't be placed over suffering. Also, exalted > cheap.

However, none of this applies to the Underground Man, whose suffering is cheap, self-perpetuating, and spiteful.
