it's alright. ending was a bit much but everything else seemed pretty plausible and nicely done. germans were only semi demonic. maybe in a hundred years they'll be human.

James Salter (rip ;_;) wrote two good novels about USAF sabre pilots: The Hunters and Cassada. I tried reading Saburo Sakai's memoirs but I found out that it was cobbled together by translators out of interviews and separate pieces and that ruined it for me. Why translate out of the Japanese and add a bunch of stuff not in the original book actually written by Sakai?? Sounds fishy. Hans Ulrich Rudel also wrote a war memoir that's been translated into English but it's also been edited and sanitized.

I bet with google, patience and access to a good library one could dig up a lot of good non fiction stuff, or if one was willing to pay via amazon, abebooks etc. I would love to find good fiction about military aviation.

-Messerschmitts Over Sicily (ww2 - interesting and you can read a bit of it on google books i think to get an idea of whether to take it)
-Another opinion for The Hunters,
-Darwin Spitfires (nonfic, ww2- 1 Raaf during 42-43, but it's academic and exhaustive and bretty well done, problem is finding it out there)

Clostermann tells a good story, First Light is an okay read (both for Battle of Britain stuff?).

Dunno much about nonfic sadly. Hope that starts you off somewhere you like.
