I recently bought a brazilian edition of Zola's Germinal from 1979.
I really liked the cover, but mine doesn't have this hideous red dot.

Recently copped a UK first edition of Beckett's Malone Dies, 1958. I'm about thirty pages in, haven't read any of his novels before but I really liked Waiting for Godot. It's interesting that he translated the novel into himself, does anyone know of authors who did this? The only author that comes to mind is Nabokov.

I don't have any particularly old books myself, but my grandmother still has an illustrated 1915 edition of Don Quijote. Apparently, my gradndgrandfather bought it and it was my grandfather's favorite book.

I wonder how much that book is worth. Apparently it's the oldest DQ translation to my language.

1968, UK first. I love the cover on this one, the book itself isn't bad. Without her husband's acclaim I doubt it would have been published. I'm glad it was, though, it's a comfy account of her time.

Got this version of anna karenina from my grandparents recently. I'd guess from the 60's or 70's, but doesn't give a year. Also I suspect a shit translation, googling the translator gives very little. Looks nice though.

William Barnes's Dorset poems. 1888. No foxing, no soiling, binding is tight, no markings anywhere inside—seems as though it was never read, though the cover is a little worn. paid forty bucks.

oldest i've got in pic, account of the battle of waterloo (1815) printed in 1815

got a 102yr old copy of milton's poetical works on friday. It's of no significance book collecting/rarity wise, but has an itaglio portrait of milton tipped-in as the frontispiece which is a nice addition

What type of book or collection is very appreciated which his value inflate with time ?

I want to diversify my holdings with old books, not looking for a quick sell profit, just holding for future.
