His work is trash, interesting concepts covered by prose vomit. Europe Central and the Dying Grass were massive disappointments. I am about to attempt Imperial for my last try with Vollman, and skimming through the prose I see this attempt lasting about 250 pages.

I am not surprised it is praised here, there is a subset of /lit/ that assigns obscurantist prose some sort of mystical ascendant quality, as if frustrating your communication with your reader is something virtuous.
