Can BLADERUNNER really be considered an adaptation? It's so loosely based on the source material that it's more "inspired by" than anything. Although PKD does get a mention in the credits and he was involved in the production..

I'd say that the two don't have many differences,it's just that the series has a bigger legacy in the West and the the novels are just getting translated.
But of course, the animated adaptation's soundtrack and creative fortess design is a big plus over the books.
