Engagement update:
We're going on vacation in two weeks. Got into a silly argument yesterday over rings.

the first one was absolutely awful. She was clearly born and raised male. She acted like a guy, she dressed like a guy, and overall it wasn't a great experience. She had the bright blue hair though, so that should have been my first sign that something was up.

the second one was better. I didn't really know she was trans until the second or third date (she never mentioned being trans at the club, so I thought she was just a cis lesbian), and by that time I already had some feelings for her. The relationship ended for reasons unrelated to her being trans- she was going off to Tucson to work on missiles, I wanted to stay in New York, and we both agreed that a long distance relationship wasn't something that we wanted. I still think about her sometimes, about what life might have been like if I'd gone with her. But that's life, things happen, and we have to learn to accept it.

I learned that the less someone talks about being trans, the more likely it is to work out. She was a lesbian, and for her being trans was just a bit of medical history, so the relationship was a good one.

hmm... honestly, a good way to keep a discord alive is to have it run by someone who has an incentive to do it for business reasons.

Example: Twitch streamers have discords that will stay alive as long as the streamer keeps chasing that gaming as a career dream. Also twitch streamers befriend a lot of their viewers, viewers feel close to the streamer so they'll keep the discord lively, viewers befriend each other, and the interaction is lasting because streamers will play video games with the viewers they feel comfortable with.

That's how you keep a discord alive.
