I was about to come out to this 12-year-old-boy aesthetic ftm in one of my creative writing classes and go to one of her little drag events mostly out of boredom but then she shitlord-shamed me three classes in a row and said I, like most straight guys, was just clueless and insensitive so I noped the fuck out of there. What are some interesting things to do in LGBT club? Is there any community volunteering, or is it just /lgbt/ irl with a bunch of college normies.
I'm interested in participating in any such group for scholarships and such.

My advice, walk in, if it looks like a bunch of weirdos (which 99% it will be) then spin 360 degrees and walk out. If it looks ok then get contact info and dont go back often.

I went to one at my school sometimes some time ago. It was so shit. We did nothing there and there was no effort to actually to do anything worthwhile to fix the problems in the community. I couldnt even find people i could befriend there, it was all "Im so gay look at me yaas queen."

I originally thought you meant some sort of gay-straight alliance thing at a high school, but college is a lot cringier. I went to one and it was mostly cis lesbians or nonpassing ftms who unironically said shit like "gender is a spectrum", "drumpf is a nazi", etc. The rest were nonpassing mtfs, and there were only a couple normal-looking gay guys who attended that meeting. Suffice it to say, I never went back and haven't participated in a uni club since.

This is the new poster at my community college, which is more text heavy than the old one. I live in a pretty homophobic state in the bible belt so there were points where people would actually try to rip/tear up the old posters, which had a rainbow heart on them. At one point they had to put them inside the library windows so homophobes couldn't rip them up.

These are a little more subtle in design, I'm curious to see if they get ripped up again.

I still live with my homophobic parents and my sexuality is very repressed because of this. I took a English class from the 3rd advisor on the list and he seemed alright.

I ended up making friends with some of the most tumblrcore people in that class even though I didn't bother to keep in contact with them.

If you don't have any problems with your identity being out like I do then I think it'd be worth a try, even if you meet people you don't care for.

Because I really wanted to talk about my (?)bisexuality in person, but at the same time I'm a shy (okay, aspie) white guy who doesn't really care about social politics. Last thing I need is to be stuck in a room with tumblr incarnate talking about nonbinary pronouns and decolonising trans bathrooms.
