I used to RP online all the time as a teenager but now I never bother. Never got into sexual RP either because there's a 99% chance any "girl" is a dude. I was already in the habit of picking male-sounding usernames and pretending to be a guy in MMOs to avoid being harassed, so it wasn't too much of a stretch to do that elsewhere on the net. I'd do it offline if I had a partner that was into it, it'd probably make me feel better.

Years of pretending to be a poor girl who couldn't afford a mic in various MMO raiding groups in high school, told irl friends in the same groups it was cause people gave you free shit or were more willing to help girls out but really it was just nice that these small groups of people would just treat me like who I felt I was for a few hours every other night.

It is difficult to find casual rp spaces, imo. Most chat forums seem to mostly ooc in general/group with clique attitutes toward new arrivals OR genchat is silent while everyone is in IM.

Kind of shitty for the, like, two months out of the year when it actually affects me. I got really dysphoric around exams last year and nearly failed because I was mopey and suicidal with no motivation and unable to think about anything but my non-passing appearance.

The rest of the time I don't really feel it though, I only get dysphoric for a couple of weeks every few months.

It's common for dysphoria to come in waves or not be intense most of the time. A lot of anons on here and trans people elsewhere have said the same. I imagine it's more common in semi-successful repressors because people who are constantly dysphoric have more incentive to transition.

Nope. It's often more noticeable when I'm stressed but you can say that about literally any mental issue - most things are easier to cope with when the rest of your life is going well. I've had bad periods of dysphoria when my life was otherwise going swimmingly so there's no specific trigger. Life the rest of the time is up and down, sometimes good, sometimes bad, but at least dysphoria isn't what's causing the bad.

ha ha ha. Not great, most of my friends growing up were guys (bullied in school for being a "lesbian" so didn't get much practice socialising with girls as girls couldn't speak to me without being labelled gay too). I have more female friends since I graduated, but all my close friends are still guys really, I just know some girls from clubs and hobbies. From appearances only I fit in now though, I learnt to get a lot better at hair/make-up/fashion than I was in high school.

I've tried smut roleplay but gee wiz it's boring.

I even rp some corny Shonen shit for 12 year Olds like Naruto or bleach as well. Anything where I can be a superpowered fucko who doesn't have to face his personal defaults because he can just shitstomp anyone.

I also pretend that I do it to practice my writing because English isn't my native language but deep down I know that's just my excuse.

I just don't think your "method" is helpful to me because I'm already the sort of person that overthinks everything and obsesses about my own feelings (and have one IRL friend I am open about these feels with and have discussed this with ad infinitum), so it doesn't really give me any new insight in the same way it might for someone that's never discussed this with anyone before. I wrote a long reply to your last set of questions in repgen but I was travelling and the thread saged before I got Internet access again, by which point I realised that all answering questions and clarifying points people had misconstrued did was plaster more semi-identifiable information about myself over the Internet without actually helping, since I hadn't actually had to consider any new information or re-evaluate my beliefs to put together the responses.

I've gone round in circles thinking about this shit so much before that most discussion only feels like the first couple of tedious sessions with a new therapist, where you have to give them a rundown of your life history and past issues before you can actually discuss anything useful (not that I've ever told a therapist about my GID, don't even have one).

Used to rp in yahoo chat, nearly 20 years ago. Did a stint on forum stuff once that shut down.

Always wanted to try D&D, the dice rolls and structure appeals to me... always hated godmode players. I feel like having limitations allows for more creative characters than utter freedom does. Who knows hiw many, "1/2 angel, 1/2 demon, 1/2 vampyre" characters I had to ignore in chatrooms. Learn your fractions, fuck-wad!

Funny you should ask that. I started playing Maplestory when I was 12. I played on male characters but it always felt strange. I made a female character and married a friend. I always got gitty when treated as a girl, but as my main was higher level and I was lazy, I played him more. I made other female characters and eventually the number of female/male character ratio was increasing. I was repressing and waiting til the wild hunter came out. I made one as female and it felt much more natural. I presented as female, had a boyfriend at the time, and enjoyed it overall. Post maple, I did the same. I then went to Wow and made a female character. I RPed alot as female and really liked it. I did ERP I admit, but I largely did other RPs. After getting a bad taste from WoW, I left MMOs and as it was my avenue for living life out as female, I began having thoughts of transitioning in RL. I grew out my hair, and when my parents left on vacation, I put on one of my mom's dresses. It felt so natural and I felt happy. I continued this until they came back and I was forced to get a haircut, much to my dismay. Few weeks later I left for an internship and largely started presenting as female over there. I came out to my parents to their disapproval and ever since then, I yearn for my MMO days and wish I was actually born female
