Was this the most perfect 61 minutes of television in history? Even /tv/ suppressed their reactionary tendencies long enough to admit it was pretty good.

I definitely think it's a strong contender for the best LGBT story in television to date, I'm glad the writing is getting awards nominations. From a writing perspective it was impressively paced for such a tight timeframe and was very articulate at expressing the emotions and emotional concepts it was concerned with in a way that didn't feel forced- neither impenetrably intellectual nor Reddit-y. In terms of creative trends in film/television to some extent it truly feels like it comes from outside of time.
Too much LGBT media is ethically conscious but has no appeal or talent beyond that. Pretty ironic that something of this creative quality AND so excellent at portraying a queer relationship would be written by a straight cis guy who'd never shown any inkling of interest in the subject before. Also interesting that it was less cliched than plenty of LGBT media I've seen actually created by LGBT people.
