I'm a lot happier with the realization that I can not control other people, and it's a waste of time just hanging around hoping they will suddenly see the things in you that you see in them. One big thing is that you both have to see the relationship as worthwhile and worth the effort of communication to keep it healthy. You havn't written much here, but I get the impression neither of you are up to that, I mean you're going to go full crazy gf stereotype cliche just to avoid having an honest conversation. Neither of you sound like you have your shit together enough to be ready for a real relationship.
