Title. Do fellow white lgbt people feel like its time to abandon the democrats and attempt to convince the republicans to be on our side? It feels like while white dems are actually interested in bigger issues, minority dems only seem to care about race, I've been watching a bunch of liberal political shows like 'democracy now' and without a doubt every single time a minority is on its to talk about how they're a minority. So what do you guys and gals think?

>Democrats
Democrats are a compromise at best, but they're still shit. I'm sure no one here truly believes their corporate rethoric, and at best vote for them just to get less crazy Republicans speculating on our rights. They're the lesser evil, but they're still evil.

Also if you associate Marxist accademia with Democrats you're an idiot who gets his worldview from fucking 4chan.

Racism is just unscientific.Biologists don't believe there are human races. Biologists believe there are human Demes, and that the differences between Demes are rather subtle.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deme_(biology)
http://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Racialism
>>
>>8725971
Yeah that's not what I'm talking about, race is very much a real thing to minorities to the point where they let it guide their entire lives
>>
>>8725961
Democrats are completely oblivious to what is happening, and at best you'll see a remark here and there, but absolutely no concrete action.
Marxists absolutely despise the DNC, which is a self-admittedtly capitalist party. On the other side, DNC has absolutely no regard for Marxists' interests. If you think that what is happening in these antifa protests is related in any way to Democrats' narratives you are 100% clueless.
>>
>>8725974
Race exists as a spook. One most people fall for. Despooking people is a valuable venture, though as of late it is true that the dems kind of rejected the melting pot ideal which is a shame.

All in all Republicans are religiously motivated so there is just no hope of "converting" them in our time. You can't debunk the bible, yeah? It doesn't help.
>>
>>8725978
The democratic party is a coalition of leftist groups that want representation in government beyond city council positions, I wouldn't doubt that the far left is trying to Bernie-sanders the damn thing and take it over while the dems are too busy reinforcing identity politics and proving to white Americans that the dems really are an anti-white party that doesn't give a fuck about liberal economics
>>
>>8725938
I have no reason to vote republican, I do not like their economic or social policy. I do not like their constituents. And I do not respect people who forego voting when they have the opportunity to. I am aware that the way elections work in America is fucked. That said I will continue to vote D.
>>
>>8725985
What do you have against the Bernie left?
>>
>>8725982
Not all republicans are though, roger stone is a republican puppet master who's pro-gay and I would imagine there are more republicans that could be convinced
>>
>>8725974
Race is a real thing to them because they are oppressed on the basis of it. If I oppress you because you are trans, it only makes sense for you to aggregate with other trans and try to defend your rights collectively. To many people it's a compromise, and it is due to the fact that there are people out there actively speculating against their human rights.
You're basically saying that they should not use the only tool available to them to fight oppression only because you wouldn't do it.

>>8725985
>The democratic party is a coalition of leftist groups
wow anon... easy on the mainstream media

>I wouldn't doubt that the far left is trying to Bernie-sanders
Bernie Sander is a left-centrist and a socdem. Not a socialist, not a Marxist, he is basically the most moderate leftist you can think of. still some fresh air in US politics, but in Europe he is considered a moderate at best: in fact his goals are what is already present in Europe, free healthcare and education, and the guarantee of basic survival for his fellow man. This is not Marxism, it's just basic decency and the will to reject any speculation on other people's life for financial reasons.
>>
>>8725991
I meant in the way he was trying to reform the party, I don't have an issue with Bernie (unlike minority dems voters)
>>
>>8725938
Already switched my registration over to Republican last year.
>>
>>8726005
I don't deny that there is definitely anti minority sentiment, the issue is that minorities tend to have this attitude of "Whitey had their chance and now its time for us to take over". Whatever happened to having the most qualified people in charge regardless of race? I was pro-obama and anti-trump but as a white American I don't really see what the democratic party has to offer anymore, it seems far more hostile than it used to be. Also I will dispute your claims that universal healthcare, college, ECT is just common decency, there is no such things as a solution, only choices. I don't think its morally out of line to say that you don't think the government should take over the healthcare market, I think its just an honest disagreement, and saying "well Europe already has it" is a bad argument, not everything has to be like europe and we can work out our own solutions.
>>
>>8726024
>I was pro-obama and anti-trump but as a white American I don't really see what the democratic party has to offer anymore, it seems far more hostile than it used to be
This has always been the case for leftists and minorities.

>I don't think its morally out of line to say that you don't think the government should take over the healthcare market, I think its just an honest disagreement, and saying "well Europe already has it" is a bad argument, not everything has to be like europe and we can work out our own solutions.
It's not about Europe, it's about the system. This system is better, cheaper and it saves more human lives. Europe is only the proof that this system is not a mere utopia, and that it is in fact possible and easily achievable, as lomg as one is willing to dismantle the fraudolent monopolies that keeps healthcare in this sorry state. And honestly I don't care about who's way this way is, I only care about how many lives it saves and at what cost.
>>
>>8726023
>Supporting a party of religious fanatics who want to legislate against you because muh jesus over a bunch of dimwits who want to legislate for you
This isn't an aesthetic choice. Where's your self-interest?
>>
>>8726035
I have yet to see the proof that universal healthcare is the only way to go about healthcare, getting rid of the restrictions to healthcare that allow a select few companies to have control over the market would certainly help, the problem with the current system of subsidizing health-care is that it rewards high prices because the government will just start picking up the tab if it goes too high
>>
>>8726047
Maybe he's trying to help reform the party so that it isn't so religious?
>>
>>8726050
These are problems inherent to the US current system, there are no such problems in Germany.

Again, the system works and it has worked in enough similar nations for us to truly believe that this is not an utopic project. Your caution is not correlated to how urgent this problem is. It's healthcare, not DMV efficency. Hundreds of thousands of lives are at stake, and we already have a solution.
>>
>>8726047
They aren't gonna do shit to gay marriage and they have introduced 0 federal anti-gay legislation. I'd rather have trannies get btfo than get more brown people.
>>
>>8726061
In inclined to believe that just because it works doesn't mean it is ultimately what we should strive for, choices are limited with universal healthcare in the same way that choice in cars is limited when the state produces them which leads people to have to travel to other countries without it to get experimental and new treatments because the government doesn't want to 'waste' money on it.
>>
>>8726047
>Where's your self-interest?
There's more to life than Pride parades.
>>
>>8725938
No you moron
>>
>>8726068
And were we end up? Nowhere, people die and no one manages to come with a better system. What about instituting a single payer system and THEN, when lives and money are saved, we start thinking about better alternatives?
>>
>>8726109
Because people wouldn't ever consider changing from it to something else if it works just enough, too many people live by the motto "if it ain't broke, don't fix it", there is a real chance for the US to be a trend setter for market based health solutions, the problem is that too many conservative politicians want to rehash the same bills that have failed, which is unfortunate because according to a pew research poll the most important thing for republican voters is candidates with new ideas.
>>
>>8726114
Do you realize that US healthcare is in these conditions due to the fact that it has been subjected by the biggest lobbying operations IN GENERAL? You're literally spouting propaganda to defend a system that does not work, that preys on the less fortunate and that is way more expensive than its alternatives. People offer you a solid and realistic alternative that fixes most of its problem but you won't take it due to ideology. The difference being that although I offer to you something concrete, you don't, and your utopistic pursuit (which is very common) results in absolutely no cange (how could you change anything? You're proposing no model that has been tried) and immense loss of human lives. Also although you are that moderate, your opponents aren't, and we are all seeing what is being done to 300000 US citizens for the sake of saving some money.

To summarize: if you don't support single payer reforms, you are either someone who is speculating on healthcare or a complete idiot. The facts are too evident and solid for me to think otherwise.
>>
>>8726126
There are big issues with wait times, getting quality service, and hoping that the government decides that your particular condition is worth the money to treat you though, under single payer everyone may get coverage but the quality they get is lessened as a way to save money, one of the supposed benefits of a single payer system is that its cheaper but the issue is that care isn't as good for those who have it. Many of the problems with the health care system in America is due to lobbying by the industry to make the market less competitive and easier to suck money out of people due to less choice, not just because people have to pay for it directly instead of getting the government to pay for it indirectly. I'm not saying that we should just say fuck the poor, but if anything we should find a temporary solution to cover those 300k who can't pay for it themselves and work out something better in the meantime instead of structuring our entire system around the fact that some people can't currently pay.
>>
>>8726067
>>8726100
The majority of republicans oppose gay marriage. Trannies are your crumple zone. After they're gone you're next.
>>
If anything I'll be voting all blue for the first time next election.

You all really seem to live in a bubble where what happens on the internet somehow translates to real life politics.

I don't base any of my political decisions on rhetoric. Rhetoric is just a string of phrases to manipulate the masses. As it stands, the Donald has shown a rare level of complete ineptitude in terms of understanding how the world works and seems convinced he needs to focus constantly on appeasing his base. the fact that most Republicans in Congress have done nothing to combat this is troublesome.

But sure. If I was delusional enough to believe Democrats wanted to impose Sharia law and cause the "white" genocide I'd probably vote Republican again.
>>
>>8726173
Still what a big, comfy crumple zone they are. Invalidating rights people currently have is much harder than not expanding rights to new groups.
>>
>>8726154
>but if anything we should find a temporary solution to cover those 300k who can't pay for it themselves and work out something better in the meantime instead of structuring our entire system around the fact that some people can't currently pay.

I'll be honest: I don't think theough ideals lile you (and I swear that I'm not trying to be patronizing), rather I just look at the facts and reality, and then I draw my conclusions. This is my conckusion on this matter: this kind of moderate reformism does not work because it is counterbalanced by a radical agenda designed to dismantle public healthcare. Since everything tends to compromises, said compromise will result in only a controlled dismantling of public healthcare, rather than a radical one.
This, as far as I can tell, has been the omnipresent trend of the last 50 years, and this is where I place your opinion: in a debate in which, in these 50 years, it has shown ineffective when it comes to actually improving health care. I'm sure that in 50 years from now nothing will have changed either (no sign of improvement can be found at the moment).
This is mainly why I support a single payer system so vehemently: because it requires no speculation, and it has already been proved to be way more efficient than our current system. If we put the 3 alternatives on the table (single payer, reformism and deregulation), single payer system is objectively, once you look at the material conditions of our reality, the best system. And since reformism tends to be so ineffective, I'd rather have it take place in a nation with a single payer system: at least while you guys keep reaching no conclusion whatsoever, people won't die.

Republicans are still pushing against abortion rights after all of these years, with some success in the more primitive states. It might not happen immediately but if you look ten years into the future that's in the cards.

Honestly if we had more secular-like big city republicans like Trump maybe gay civil rights in the republican party will be taken more seriously.

I don't think all republicans are against gays, only the crazy Evangelical repubs are.

Dunno about transgenders, their movement is in downward spiral. From the looks of it hormone treatments and SRS might be banned in 10-20 years.

>>8726482
But why? If you don't believe it's morally wrong in the cases of rape and shit, why force people to ruin their own life as well as raise a shitty human being?
>>
>>8726576
because in case of rape/incest its a crime, it was not willingly commited by both sides and/or bears a very high risk of disability for the unborn child.
the other is adults not willing to take responsability for their actions. just because its a trend to party hard and fuck around nowadays, you cannot just say "meh ppl just are that stupid, let them be idiots idc"
besides, im not religious and i dont like this extreme religious right in america for example...but i guess if you stay away from anon. sex and try to found a family based on a stable relationship, not a drunk hookup, why should they be forced to pay for ppls stupidity?
im from germany, so yeah, i favour the idea that everyone must pay into public health, but that miney should be used to help ppl losing limbs, getting cancer or sth else.
it shouldnt be "if youre too much of a dipshit to lead an adult life, just let the rest bail you out"
>proud conservative faggot
>>
>>8726637
continued. i like the more socialistic approach we have in europe, but it works just so long as ppl still give a shit about their choices.
if the motto is "do what you like, we help you anyways" its just an incentive to behave stupidly.
so i guess it shouldnt be an option in public healthcare. but if you say "if you pay for it privatly,no tax money involved" then its a question of whether you have the money for the luxury of an abortion. thats not really fair either....
>>
>>8726637
>>8726691
>Why should we be forced to pay for your mistakes?
>I'd rather have non-aborted babies to live on welfare and leech off the system instead

Fuck off. Besides, we're discussing the legality of abortion, not whether or not it should be paid by the state. Unless you believe abortion should be legal but should be paid for by the patient, what is your point?
>>
>>8726637
>its a crime, it was not willingly commited by both sides
Remind me why this makes it legal to murder somebody (since presumably that's your objection to abortion the rest of the time)?

I don't get how someone's right not to be killed depends on their conception?

Does statutory rape count?

>and/or bears a very high risk of disability for the unborn child
It doesn't though, but are you fine with aborting children whenever there's any slight risk, eg if the mother has a glass of wine or a slim chance of a hereditary illness?

Why does the child's quality of life matter when it comes to their genetics but not their parents capability to look after them?

tl;dr you look like an inconsistent hypocrite
>>
>>8726500
HRT and SRS will never be banned unless something better comes along. Trans movement is not going well because 1) it's difficult to understand to begin with for cis people 2) poor advocates like Caitlyn Jenner 3) trenders giving us a bad name 4) Republicans using trans as a wedge issue 5) lesbians and gays throwing us under the bus
>>
>>8726744
Honestly as a gay Republican we can't throw you under the bus any harder. I'd be more than happy to offer you as a sacrificial lamb to evangelical interests in exchange for peace about our own rights as gays.
>>
>>8726750
Why would they stop there? They're winning and you're the enemy. The bible doesn't say shit about being trans. It quite clearly says you're an abomination that should be stoned to death though.

Start on the state level to see change. By focusing on the state level we can, as we've done before, knock one of the two main parties out and replace it with one that better represents the people. Not only can we do that, again, but we can fix other problems by focusing on the state level. If it wasn't for the people changing things in their state and helping neighboring states to do the same we might not have been able to accomplish things like abolishing slavery or ending the ban on gay marriage

Private companies can be influenced by taking your money elsewhere. Your vote has very little influence, especially at the national level.
Government has the power to deprive you of life, liberty, and property. Private companies can't do that unless they enlist the government to help.
Private companies take your money in exchange for products and services. If you get ripped off you can shop elsewhere. Government just takes your money regardless of whether you get anything for it.

If the government poisons my water, intentionally or not, I can't do shit about it and I still have to pay. The large corporations and the US government are partners but the government wears the pants in their relationship

Utility monopolies are usually government enforced. Things would have developed differently without enforced monopolies. In urban areas you'd have more competition because it would be profitable for more companies to build infrastructure. In less populated areas there might be more off-grid options available than is currently the case. Competition would arise if prices got too high. Population patterns would likely be different.
Given the system we have though you couldn't just do crash deregulation without major disruptions and dislocations. Artificial retail markets for utilities are kind of stupid because the electricity, natural gas, or whatever are just being added to a common pool and the monopoly still does the delivery. Wholesale competition makes a lot more sense with our current system, as well as allowing competitors to utilize rights of way to build new infrastructure without placing onerous requirements on them.

Look, I don't think the democrat party actually cares about LGBT people as more than a voting bloc, but at least that means they'll give us a helping hand.

Republicans however already have their voting bloc- the religious people. They're much more numerous, and the republicans know that siding with us would mean they lose the religious vote, meaning they lose pretty much every election.

So if I'm to choose between the person who will help me in return for me voting for them and the person who will fuck me over, I'm gonna choose the person who will help me.

Maybe if Republicans stopped bowing down to the religious so much, I'd vote for them- but as it is, fuck no

Are these monopolies as natural as you think they are? Multiple cell phone companies can serve the same area. Multiple sets of fibre optic cables carrying internet and long distance phone service criscross the country and the world. Some places have power lines run by more than one company.
You're more likely to get monopolies in less populated areas, but there can be off-grid options. Government should be flexible in allowing competition to develop if it can, but can step in where there is no competition. A system shouldn't be imposed for political or ideological reasons.
I do think government should handle roads though. That's closer to a true natural monopoly. Sewer systems are probably another, though people shouldn't be forced onto them if a septic system will work.

Tower of Babel

>Now the whole world had one language and a common speech... As people moved eastward,[a] they found a plain in Shinar[b] and settled there.

They said to each other, “Come,... Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves; otherwise we will be scattered over the face of the whole earth.”

>But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower the people were building. The Lord said, “If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them... let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other.”

>So the Lord scattered them from there over all the earth, and they stopped building the city.

>That is why it was called Babel[c]—because there the Lord confused the language of the whole world. From there the Lord scattered them over the face of the whole earth.

You fuckwit, that's because abortion still has a majority opposition among many groups, like WHITE WOMEN for instance. It doesn't matter how much you try to trat it as a settled issue, it's not. It would never have passed Congress, it was forced through via judicial activism and the left is deathly afraid that that error will be rectified every time the right puts a justice on the SC bench.
>>
>>8727319
Yes. Natural monopolies are situations where the cost of entry is so astronomically high for competition that there is no reasonable way they would compete.

It's much more logical for a cable industry, for example, to set up the infrastructure in areas not already serviced by a competitor. You can't just have 30 cables crisscrossing everything, and the cost is so high it would be difficult to return profits.

>Some places have power lines run by more than one company.
Which is fine, but if you were in a world where competition is free for this industry, and I just spent 5 billion dollars on building cables that I own outright, why precisely would I let my competitors use them?

>>
>>8726852
You do realize that a lot of the modern anti-gay anti-abortion activism is focused on the judicial side of things, right? They know that the public support isn't there to enact their agenda directly and for all their whining about activist judges I guess they thought it was a good idea.

Across the country, there are numerous well-funded organisations that exist for the sole purpose of launching legal challenges against things like abortion, gay marriage, and gay adoption with the goal and hope that the case will work its way up to the supreme court which they will convince to reverse their previous rulings.

That's like the whole fucking reason for republicans refusing to even consider obama's nominations and why trump's conservative pick was so important. They're trying to stack the court with conservatives and the balance is only one or two people.

My main contention is that there would be competition in more densely populated areas and probably not in more rural areas. Government should be flexible and can step in as needed. I have no problem with different companies running infrastructure. It can be buried if you don't like the aesthetics of wires on poles.
Of course a cable company would like to have a monopoly on infrastructure but just because they like it doesn't mean they're entitled to it. As I said multiple sets of cables are fine. It's not likely you'd have 30 companies anyway. Government can regulate and manage the right of way.
Rights to use cables can be bought and sold. Look at cell phone resellers that are able to purchase the right to use the cell phone infrastructure of larger companies.
Let the market develop, and only intervene where needed. Unfortunately government has had such a heavy hand in things that you can't just change systems overnight if ever.
I'll get into health care a bit. I think there should be more of a free market in health care. I like privatemdlabs.com for blood tests. I'd like to be able to shop around more but pricing practices in health care are terrible and should be illegal. There should be liberalization of what medications can be bought OTC.
That said, the reality is there is no political will for market liberalization. It isn't happening. The current system in the US is really bad since we don't have a true free market at all, yet the effect of government involvement is to drive prices sky high. Politics being what they are for pragmatic reasons I'm starting to support single payer as being a lesser evil, on the condition that private health care still be allowed to exist outside the single payer system for those who can afford it. That would be a necessary safety valve and competition in case the government system gets botched too badly. At the end of the day I'm pragmatic, not an ideologue.

Certainly not funny for that woman who had a large man pound on the door and barge into the bathroom because he was concerned a tranny might be lurking in the bathroom his mother might use, or the one who had a women spy on them through the cracks in the door while they were taking a shit to make sure no trannies were around that might spy on poor innocent women and make them uncomfortable.

Supreme Court cases are notoriously sticky. Justices are extremely hesitant to overturn cases unless there is a very strong public majority demanding it. Justices hate doing anything that opens potential for future issues with the Court's authority.

I don't think trannies are even getting BTFO that hard. Sometimes you have to accept the natural ebb and flow of life.

These laws and judicial decisions only affect a few states and are not permanent. Social policy has always headed towards moderate and other policies need moderating at this time so it is not my focus.

I don't know if any of you are old enough to remember, but back in the... early 80s I think it was? the idea that gay people shouldn't be allowed to use public facilities with their own sex wasn't uncommon. People thought they were pedophiles and rapists, and would rape if they were allowed in.

gays are so happy not to be the lowest target anymore that they've forgotten their history
>>
>>8727920
>He appeases social conservatives
But that's the thing. Every action Trump does is to appease his base. Where is the political sensibility in that? His base are his supporters. At the end of the day, they'd die before voting for Democrats. The people he needs to appease are the moderates and leftists he won over during the election and he's done nothing for them. By this point he's already lost them. They didn't vote for him to gut healthcare and lower taxes. They voted for him to get their jobs back from whatever bogeyman who took them. He's done absolutely nothing on that front.

He is not liked by the public, who see his incompetence, and now give him the lowest popularity since Ford. I doubt even his cabinet likes him anymore- he goes through them like like a bag of chips, and doesn't consult with them very much before doing anything.

He wants to be some sort of lone-gunman type of hero, standing alone yet loved by all, but that's just not happening. He's got a support base who treat him like a god and will deny any signs of him not being a popular leader, but that's about it.

Aside from a small number of refugees, almost all legal immigrants to the US are wealthy and highly educated who come here to work in highly skilled fields that the US workforce is unable to fill with citizens.

If the wall is built and all of those billions of dollars are pumped into it, then yes. Illegal immigration can be reduced by a good percent, but I wonder if that's actually going to save as much money as it cost to even break even in 50 years.

That's nonsense. A VAST majority of legal immigrants come to the US through family visas, not employment visas. It's called chained migration, a guy marries a shitskin woman from the Philippines, she becomes LPR/citizen within a few years and suddenly she's eligible to sponsor her parents, siblings and cousins for immigration too.

BDD is about focusing on details which either aren't there or are really small. Your perception of reality is warped.

ironic cause you guys argue that a strong central gov prevents states from being mean to trannies like south carolina but then the political pendulum swings and trumpo bans trannies from the military lol

decentralizing power structures hedges against a single fault and there is no gaurentee that the top of the power pyramid couldnt become corrupted and tyrannical

The disticntion is that if Company A is fucking you so you take your money and buy from Company B instead, even if Company A doesn't change anything about its products or policies, now you have B Product®, and you don't have to put up with A and their shit no matter how popular it is. With the government, if everyone votes to fuck you with switchblades you just plain lose.

Apparently being gay doesn't make up for the original sin of "white privilege". WHo is more oppressed either a disabled gay white woman or a straight cis black man? It's the victim Olympics!
