There is actually a lot of science behind what makes a good and bad flag. If people can't connect with a flag that represents them then the flag isn't fulfilling it's purpose. I recommend giving this video a watch if you have some time to spend because lgbt flags (the main one in particular) are terrible for the same reasons this flag in the OP is terrible. There's no symbolic meaning behind any of the stripes and colors, yet so many historic events have happened in the fight for lgbt rights. I think if someone came forward with a well designed flag it would go a long way for uniting us.
