It really is this simple: if your BEST FRIEND invites you to his wedding, and you don't want to show up because you dislike his entire sexuality, then i literally can't see how you could possibly be his best friend.

I think this is sorta becoming true for most couples in general.
"opposites attract" is becoming less and less of a thing, people want to be with other people that are as close as possible to themselves in term of mindset and social circles they hang with and so on.

Maybe it's sort of a generational phenomenon, just as everyone is becoming more politically polarized and want to stick to the group "they belong into", so does their love life also reflect this.
