Is it possible to change your orientation?

Only the religious lobby seem to try, I've not seen any scientific attempts to produce a change in orientation, lots of statements about the problems with religious therapies but these seem to produce more ex-gays than anything else.

The reason I accepted my homosexual condition is because I went to two psychologists and they both told me conversion therapy didn't work.
So I had two choices:
>Stay in the closet, find a girl and ruin her life by marrying her and eventually leaving her because I decided in my forties/fifties that wanted to be happy and therefore need to come out as a saggy old man with limited dating options
or
>Accept myself and try try to have a love life while still young and be happy with a man despite the social stigma
I've decided for the latter. But if conversion therapy was effective the reason I would do it would be to have a normal family and biological kids that are a combination of my genetic material and my wife's, not because some outdated book says it's wrong.
If I could impregnate my (future) boyfriend so that our kids would look like us I would be so happy.

Virtually all ex-gays are in denial.

I wouldn't even try if this was since my childhood but I clearly remember being attracted to females in my teens and before that. I started fapping very early though and all of that to females.

I never watched anything else than straight porn until my late twenties until one day it just petered out and my boners started faltering. Eventually gay sex proved to be the ultimate kink.

I never had a single thought of attraction to the same sex until well past 25 and I saw gay porn on imageboards and pondered if I could be gay and none of that did anything to me.

I don't even know what the fuck I am anymore, it shouldn't happen like that.

I said it's not KNOWN to work on regular trans people. We don't have the experience to know, but it is the case that there isn't meaningful evidence FOR the idea that it would be an effective treatment of gender dysphoria. And there isn't really any reason to get your hopes up, it makes sense that antipsychotics would help with gender dysphoria that is the result of a psychotic disorder, which "regular" gender dysphoria doesn't appear to be. And I've heard that even with that case study of the person who did have gender dysphoria that was psychotic in origin, the dosage needed to suppress the dysphoria was ridiculously high, to the point that HRT probably would have been safer for the same effectiveness.

but doing so harmlessly and reliably on anyone is way beyond what science can do for a very long time, if ever.

though this is only at an individual level.
for an entire population, cultural norms can influence how people develop certain sexualities, not a very strong influence but can change it by a few percentage points either way.
