So I came out to my parents when I was 21, started going to a therapist. At the time I lived in a college town in Kansas. He said he wouldn't refer me for hormones until I'd been living as a woman for a year without them. This is pretty much my nightmare as I deeply want to pass so I decided to try and repress REALLY hard. Now here I am 3.5 years later and not getting any younger so now I realize I have to do this.

So I live in Kansas City now. If I go see a therapist who specializes in this, are they just going to tell me the same thing? Part of what's been holding me back from doing this is the fear of standing out so basically just crossdressing for a year doesn't sound great. Also, does anyone know how I go about finding LGBT friendly hairdressers? Googling turned up pretty much nothing.
