It literally just means you have a gender identity that isn't male or female. Some non-binary identities are seen as a combination of male and female, like an intermediate point between the two that isn't one or the other, while others are seen as being completely outside the male-female spectrum.

Not really, gender expression can vary independently from gender identity, that's why there are femboys and so on. "Non-binary" describes a position (or set of positions) possible on both the identity and the expression axes. One can be a cis man with a non-binary gender expression, one can be a non-binary person who presents as a woman, and so on.
