>>8610257
Literally no shows are like that unless you want SJW shit
>>8610257
manga was even better
>Tfw no Kanojo ni Naru Hi or Kanojo ni Naru Hi Another anime
>>8610257
Bokura no hentai is superior imho
>>8610257
Persona - Kanji
>>8612102
Kanji is fucking ace. Ellie and Riley from the Last of Us are pretty awesome too desu.
Himegoto something something
Please Like Me. It's on Australia-TV
>>8612192
>ended up cute crossdresser anyway
not a TV show/video game but still
>>8610257
>Good tv shows
>first post is wandering boy
kill yourself op
>>8612701
What's wrong with wondering boy?
>>8612058
Bokura no hentai is much less realistic and much more preachy. It borderline felt like something western SJWs made but it was Japanese so it felt weird.
Also it didn't anywhere near as hard as Wandering Son. Wandering Son legit made me feel strong dysphoria at multiple point and I cried once or twice as well. With Bokura no hentai it was like "yeah, that was nice" but no strong feelings about it one way or the other.
>>8610257
Movie was not the best but was interesting to watch.
There is a British show on Netflix about gay spies with the older woman who is the prosecutor in Series 2 of Broadchurch. I am blanking on her name.
I also am currently watching Deep Water, which is an Australian TV Show about a gay guy who gets murdered (and of course is Muslim because its literally 2017).
Would be open to recs. for similar.
Use gay-torrents.net to find (non-porn) tv shows and movies.
>>8612208
I only got into the first season of that. Is it decent anymore?
>>8613336
>about a gay guy who gets murdered (and of course is Muslim because its literally 2017).
Gonna guess it's cishet male whiteys who kill him.
>>8613399
The plot is kinda confusing, white straight guy is a suspect but currently suspicion is on a gay guy.
>>8610257
Patrician coming through. Not a tv show but movies are better anyway.
>>8613414
Cisgay male whitey, 3/4 points checked.
>>8610257
Katawa Shoujo, although only in one or two storylines
>inb4 the meme
>>8612102
Ace as in good or ace in asexual?
Honestly it doesn't even matter what he is, since he's a good springboard for conversations about adolescence and masculinity, even on 4chan.
>>8610257
>Good show
>Tackles LGBT issues
>Tackles
Nah, making your show revolve around a topic just because of the fact it's LGBT is extremely shallow and uninteresting. Plus it'd sound way too preachy.
A good example of characters under LGBT that are actually good characters, are some of the ones from Morel Orel.
>>8613915
>gives genital piercings to schoolboys
>good character
>>8613946
I never said they were perfect, besides she's far better than most of the people in Morelton.
>>8613283
d/a, but this is interesting to read. I'm not trans but I feel approximately the same way about the two. Bokura no Hentai was way too tryhard and left me pretty cold, but HM made me cry at least once per volume.
>>8612192
Just finished reading this a few weeks ago, man, what a wild ride.
>>8614014
Thanks, anon. I don't think my opinions are that rare in the trans community, most other trannies I've spoken online agree that Wandering Son sparks dysphoria, especially at the same parts that are most difficult for Nitori, like hitting puberty (especially contrasted with his female cousin), his voice breaking, being banned from school and publicly humiliated for showing up in girls uniform and approaching the end of the series were every day brings him closer to unpassing hon territory - almost a death sentence for trans women.
>>8613339
imo it kept improving as it went on, 3rd season was fuckin amazing although 4th season was a bit rushed cause it was short
>>8613884
Ace as in good. Pretty sure he's bi.
Simoun, I started watching for the lesbians, and stayed for the dynamics of a society in which sex is chosen at pubecent ages. The premise of starting a population off with non-binary-but-fem from birth to some point mid-teens when everyone by choice undergo rituals to magically transition to female or male is a good meditation on the subject of transexuality.
>>8612102
>Persona - Kanji
Straight dudes and gay jokes aren't LGBT issues.
Fata Morgana, Inter sexuality and gender identity.
>>8612031
LITERALLY THE BEST
>>8612192
Juukyuusai no Seifuku?
>>8619382
>tfw cant enter a cocoon for 5 years and exit with perfectly tousled hair and a feminine voice
>>8618733
Apparently there's an interview(though I've never seen any video of it) where Troy Baker explains that his translation notes for the character was to play him as explicitly gay, though it could just be instructions to use a really affected voice when playing his shadow. But again his story is more about acceptance rather than sexuality.
>>8610257
Is the manga or anime better? I don't want to bother watching/reading both.
>>8613802
>tfw the entire "La la land" fisco
It was glorious.
>>8610262
Looks like Wandering Son.
>>8619554
>Troy Baker explains that his translation notes for the character was to play him as explicitly gay
Kanji is one weird gay dudes, his love interest is a girl!
Even in the dancing game he has a crush on another girl.
Yuureitou
>>8613873
this is that cripple girl dating sim, right? what are their disorders? imma guess. left to right:
>birth defect, polio, mtf, lazy eye, retardation, autism
Shinagami Tasogare - All LGBT issues.
>>8620085
This looks really interesting and intense what's it about?
>>8620113
Pedophilia
Love and lies has a gay dude in it and it's handled pretty well.
>>8613915
>Nah, making your show revolve around a topic just because of the fact it's LGBT is extremely shallow and uninteresting. Plus it'd sound way too preachy.
Lots of media is based around trying to make people understand and empathize with various things. Political movements, philosophies, social concepts and the people affected by them, diseases, etc. It doesn't magically become a bad thing when it's applied to LGBT.
>>8618733
>Kanji
>straight
Dude was clearly bi.
>>8620148
And I had hopes...
>>8620113
Murder mystery. The MC is a bi/les FTM who forces a straight dude to dress up like a girl and he likes it.
>>8619537
>Fuck that ending. But yeah, the manga is godtier among trans media imho.
what's bad about it? i read it few years ago so i don't remember
>>8620205
It's been a while for me too, but iirc the ftm "grew out of it" and the mtf settled for being a crossdresser.
>>8620207
Good ending.
>>8610257
If the message isn't "stone on sight", it's shit.
>>8620207
didn't nitori want to get help from that adult mtf to transition? i remember her nerdy friend did
>>8620152
>gay dude in it and it's handled pretty well.
It isn't.
>>8620201
Keep telling yourself that.
>>8620109
More people need to read this.
>>8620148
It's kinda weird, because the series tries to send a positive LGBT message but that character only goes for young boys.
Unless I'm missing something because Japan difference in age of consent
sense 8 is a great show on Netflix
trans woman lead and trans woman directors
also follows a gay actor who has to hide his sexuality for his career I just started season 2
>>8621247
The preachiness of the show angers me sometimes and Nomi's speech at the wedding absolutely pissed me off. She's a fucking attention whore but I suppose that's partially just who she is as a person.
Nomi's mom hits too close to home though. Sense8 is definitely worth watching now it narrowly escaped outright cancellation.
>>8610343
This. Representation is always:
>L: "Oh look at how deep and emotional and hard our lives our. We can push through, though! We'll make it!"
>G: "OoOOooh, hasn't he got a fabulous flair? Yass, bitch! Yass, bitch!"
>B: "I'm going to experiment but we'll break up because fuck same-sex LTRs!"
>T: "There is nothing else to life outside of transitioning..."
>>8618756
>>8610343
>Using SJW unironically
/v/ will never love you
>>8621247
I have to admit both me and my partner sincerely hated this show. We wanted to like it and we just... really didn't at all. It was cringe-worthily preaching and was mostly concentrating on the "oh boy the society hates us" aspect and... ugh. We just want the cool supernatural shit with diverse character cast and NOT A FUCKING DAVID THE TIGER'S NEIGHBOURHOOD MINORITY RIGHTS EPISODE SPECIAL!
>>8621287
>>T: "There is nothing else to life outside of transitioning..."
Trannies confirmed for most deeply redpilled.
>>8621228
Elaborate.
>>8621325
It's an harem with a gay dude who will never win.
>>8621318
I'm a gay dude and I thought it was pretty boring.
>>8621368
But watching cute boys suffer is fun.
>>8620085
>tfw this is the only manga I can recall where being trans wasn't a meme for a character and that that character was supported and not told to just "accept themselves" at the end
>>8621318
yeah It was a little preachy. but I can understand maybe they put it in there so that people who arent LGBT and dont have any knowledge about our issues might get something from that.
those fight scenes are pretty awesome tho
and that once scene with the bazooka
>>8621239
>Unless I'm missing something because Japan difference in age of consent
IIRC the age of consent is 12 in Japan but their age of maturity is 20 and not 18 so there are special rules where if you're under 20 your legal range is 12 to 20 but if you're over 20 your legal range is 20+.
>>8621287
>G: fabulous yass!
In my experience, gay media in movies and such tends to be overly sad stories about how Guy A can't get with guy B because they're both guys and eventually one dies in the end.
>>8622193
Why are lawmakers so retarded? An 18 year old and 19 year old can legally consent to sex, but a 19 year old and a 20 year old cannot?
Yubisaki no Milk Tea
>>8620207
>and the mtf settled for being a crossdresser.
No the implication at the end is that Shuuichi will transition in the near future and even her girlfriend (Anna) accepted her as a girl.
But yeah, Takatsuki (the FtM) decided she's like a soft butch and that she likes being a girl. I'm not FtM so I'm not sure how they feel about it but I, personally, was fine with it. Little sad that Takatsuki ended up with unrequited feelings for Shuuichi (the MtF) though.
>>8620113
It's pretty awesome, actually. It's a murder mystery set in 1950s Japan and the main character is an FtM, which is insanely rare in any media in any country. Being trans is portrayed really well too and not like a joke or a phase. And, to top it all off, it's not even preachy or annoying, the fact that the main character is FtM and the secondary main character MIGHT be MtF is really important for them, as people, but it's not the central part of the story; that's a murder mystery.
Overall I'd say it's a 9/10 except for the ending. The ending feels horrifically rushed like they were told "the series is cancelled" and they just had to cram in like 20 chapters in one or two. It's actually really jarring.
>>8610257
Umineko, but it tackle a lot of issues including child abuse and other such. it's a long read.
>>8610257
>good TV shows/video games that tackle LGBT issues.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
>>8613802
Hollywood's blesssing from the heavens.
Personally I don't care about the story but I hate seeing a movie that has a lot of effort in it being reduced to some progressive PR vehicle for one of the most morally vain and arrogant groups of people on earth.
>>8622357
>HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
That's arrogant to dismiss everything like that. Sure Hollywood won't make a good film about LGBT issues any time soon but small, independent and foreign creators will.
Also as conservative as Japan is socially, and it's very conservative Japan is like if the 1960s and beyond never happened in the west, it's very liberal in its media, especially manga. There are mangas out there from real trans and/or gay people in Japan describing their experiences.
>>8622324
>off, it's not even preachy or annoying
Eeeh, it does get preachy in some parts.
>Overall I'd say it's a 9/10 except for the ending. The ending feels horrifically rushed like they were told "the series is cancelled" and they just had to cram in like 20 chapters in one or two. It's actually really jarring.
I think it's based on a novel. I didn't feel like it was rushes, it just kinda really jumped the shark for some things. It still a worth read.
>>8622341
>Umineko, but it tackle a lot of issues including child abuse and other such. it's a long read.
Umineko handling of its transgender character was a fucking mess.
>>8622365
>Sure Hollywood won't make a good film about LGBT issues any time soon but small, independent and foreign creators will.
Why do you think that if Hollywood will not do it, Hollywood jr. somehow will?
>>8622308
>No the implication at the end is that Shuuichi will transition in the near future and even her girlfriend (Anna) accepted her as a girl.
Yeah, that's what I got.
Honestly though, the second half of Wandering Son was kinda bad, the series felt kinda aimless. Nitori going to school dressed as a girl was when the climax.
>>8622417
source on pic?
>>8622452
It's Shinagami Tasogare. If you area gay guy, first 5 chapters are straight up high school flashbacks.
>>8622391
>I didn't feel like it was rushes
It absolutely did. Amano went from "still considers himself a guy to kind of questioning" to "full on MtF transitioning" in like a chapter. And their relationship went from "strong friendship with hints of romance" to "full on FtM and MtF romance" .
Only good LGBT show coming in
>>8622605
>Amano went from "still considers himself a guy to kind of questioning" to "full on MtF transitioning" in like a chapter.
This never happened? In fact he's show dating a girl as a boy in the epilogue until they break up. Then he's show crossdressing again. The series never says anything about the main character's gender ultimately.
>>8613336
>British show on Netflix about gay spies
You're thinking of London Spy with Ben Whishaw and Jim Broadbent. Highly recommend it.
>>8622463
Thank you for the recommendation.
Shimanami Tasogare is fabulous, and I can't wait to read more of it when it gets translated.
