I used to reply to threads like that because they aggravated my insecurities, and I took comfort in the thought that I could feel control over those issues by winning arguments about them.

Also, sometimes other people talking about problems I can relate to makes me sad and scared, since I don't even know how to help myself, much less anyone else.

We do report threads but they don't necessarily get deleted immediately and someone is bound to shitpost in the meantime, some trolls will even samefag to try to get things going if no one is biting.

Just look at that one spammer with the gaynun avatar that had multiple simultaneous troll threads with similar one sentence shitpost ops and a handful of replies each.
They've done it a few times too even after being deleted and/or banned. Ban evasion is easy for determined trolls.

I'd agree that it's best to just ignore them but they can literally sustain a thread of hate with samefagging and shitposting amongst themselves so it's better to directly challenge and disprove their lies for anyone who might be reading along and not know any better.
