What are you guys advice or thoughts on coming out if it could hurt someone you love. My dad is a southern baptist preacher. We fight all the time and don't agree much on politics, but I respect the guy because I think he is 100% honest in his belief, and he raised me to spot the fake, holier than thou set who don't give a fuck about ppl. Sry, writing this stoned, rambling.
Here is the thing.
This is the deep south.
Rando hate crimes aside, I know of southern baptist preachers my dad knew when I was in my teens being let go by their churches for having there gay son outed.
My dad has been.....a preacher since before i was born. I can't imagine how awful coming out would be for my family. Or maybe i'm just a coward.

my advice, if you wish to 'come out' is to talk to your father about it. if you're worried of him reacting negatively, make sure you are set to escape this life. but if you think he would be open minded tell him. if he agrees that he'd be 'let go' then yeah maybe dont come out. you might have to find a new community unfortunately.

well, I do think my dad would still ...love me? i guess i should say. but FUCK it would not go over smoothly. I may just need to move off somewhere random for a good job or something.....maybe get my masters...
