I'm not sure what is being tracked here. "Express their gender differently (...) from gender assigned at birth" is pretty vague. And once again, "acting like the other gender" is much more accepted for girls than it is for boys, so that might also influence the results.

I mean, even as an MtF, yeah. Basically if you're not very cool loner "guy" in 21st century you're extremely likely to spend too much time online (because you don't have anywhere or anyone to hang out with IRL) and online you're extremely likely to gravitate towards sites like 4chan that cater to weird people that are somewhat outside the norm.

On the other hand if you've been socialized as female in modern society you're massively likely to be on tumblr because sometimes stereotypes are completely true. So it's no secret that FtMs are overwhelmingly present on tumblr and MtFs on 4chan.

Yeah, this is absolutely the case. There was an article on New York Times about gender non conforming boys and it said how a boy would be taken to a psychologist for something as minor as "I like the color pink" or "I want a Barbie for Christmas" while a girl would literally have to go as far as to say "I want to cut off my breasts" for her to get sent to a shrink.

Gender transgressions are completely allowed in girls in western society, in fact most girls nowadays are somewhere around the middle.

If you imagine gender expression as a scale from -100 (most masculine) to 0 (neutral) to +100 (most feminine) most girls would be around 0 while most boys would be stuck in that box of masculinity from -100 to -90.
