I started a year before you op and don't believe the memes on this site if you get on hrt now here's what's going to happen 1. You'll be treating your dysphoria before it reaches critical mass. 2. You'll be stopping any further damage from testosterone. 3. There's a chance that you'll pass and be happy versus waiting any longer and looking like a man to the point where even surgery doesn't help. 4. If for any reason you don't pass boymode it and save for surgeries like I'm doing. Either way it's better than repression.

I too started hrt at late 24 btw, 26 in 2 weeks now and very happy with the result so far, it have been a life changer, I want to get out more now, albeit I'm still working on getting over social anxiety I've built up with isolation over the years, I'm motivated and working on getting over it.
I too fall back sometimes on the lost past and know it's hard, but I can't change it either.. at least I have the potential to live more than half my life as a woman from here on out.
And as for hormones, by the time I'm 50 I'd been running on estrogen for 2.5 times the time testosterone have been running in my veins.

Plus the amount of bodily changes that happen from 30-50 are pretty huge

The biggest changes are during puberty.
Your height, your face shape, etc.
Most men who lose their hair (mpb) do it in their early 20s.
I'm not saying you shouldn't transition if you're over 18, but I am saying that it will be more difficult to get a female looking result.

As for passing, everything is up to chance though, starting at 15 or 25, but if you had great result post 20, you'd likely had better before 20.

Major changes does happen in puberty yes but looking at pictures of my dad in his 20s vs now close to 50, that's comparable to what puberty did to me.. rib cage, body frame, skull size etc etc..
And mpb takes years, it could go fast ~5-10 years or it could take decades to go through.
