People (usually) reduce their standards if they seem impossible to achieve; you're more willing to date meh people if you don't expect to be able to date 10/10s. Being "a boy dressed like a girl" seems like a more achievable outcome to you than being a girl, and in general being a girl seems impossible to you, so therefore you've changed your standards to fit.
