Hi im mtf and black. I have a good sense of fashion and styles but i feel like one of my biggest issues with passing is my hair. Its too short and being black it doesnt come relaxed at all. About a month or two ago I used a chemical relaxer and ever since ive been taking good care of my hair and has been trying everything to gtow it out. Is there truely such thing as racial limits or could i eventually reach death metalhead status ?
Ok op here, I'm home and now I can elaborate.
I know there is a lot of help guides for trans people to deal with hair but hair is vastly different by race.
I was hoping someone would have some advice, maybe some techniques to help grow out hair, even if I end up reaching some draped metal fan's hair I could atleast work off of that later.

As a fellow black transwoman, let me say to you....learn how to fucking google.
if you have any specific questions i can answer them, but i think if you see what i posted>>8492197
and watch the videos i posted you should be able to go off on your own.
chemical relaxer is trash and is going to fuck up your scalp, and your hair long term, so i wouldn't recommend that. if you really want bone straight hair, get a wig or wear a weave.

I could live without it being bone straight but I definetly have more possibilities relaxed then an automatic fro. I'll watch the videos thank you for replying.

Holy shit, I never expected to see anything like this. I honestly thought I was the only black transwoman on this board.

You wouldn't happen to have a nice starting point or recommendations for makeup would you? Im having a hard time matching makeup to my skin color and am frankly all around scared of makeup.

thats because you're creative I think.
learn how to properly care for your hair and then you can do whatever you want. I style my hair all sorts of ways.
learn about natural hair

i dont have a makeup starter kit no.
I would recommend buying black owned brands or brands that cater to black women, since those will usually have more shades in our arena, and the other stuff (eye shadows, lipsticks, etc etc) will also better match us.
if you can't find your shade, I would go to sephora or mac or ulta and ask them to help you find your shade, and then you can match that shade to other brands.
if you need to stay on the cost effective side, I'd try IMAN or Black Opal. you should be able to find your shade in their stuff easily
The first video the girls hair is gorgeous- though its a wig was kinda a let down. I'd like hair like that for real- a weave or a wig I just cant get over especially a wig, like what if it falls off that'd be embarrassing.
