There's a culture of gay sex among black men called "being on the down low". These guys are considered straight. I doubt that the percentage of actual gay men among blacks is any different than among other groups. I've run into a helluva lot of gay black men.

It isn't just about being on the down low because of the homophobia in the community but some young black people are being taught homosexuality is a white man invention and black men cannot be gay. It's not that prevalent of a message but it's out there and some kids are taught to follow it.

Technically I guess you could say that homosexuality was invented by white men because the word didn't exist until it was first used by a German guy named Karl Heinrich Ulrichs in 1862. The whole concept of homosexuality is a western invention since in most cultures people are just "sexual". But of course we're pretty sure that men all over the world were (and still are) having sex with each other.
