question: what is it that makes "straight" ace (or aro for that matter) people a valid part of the lgbtq+-community? not trying to delegitimize anyone here, i think ace and aro people should be fully respected, but it feels kinda odd to me that they are put in the same category of minorities who are often actively discriminated against. is discrimination against ace/aro people a bigger deal than i'm making it out to be? are there other good reasons as to why they ought to be included within the abbreviation?

i don't know a whole lot wrt ace people since i hardly know any so if i'm coming off as insensitive i apologize, i just hope to learn more about you guys

I used to watch porn while masturbating for the sole purpose of distracting myself from my thoughts, but recently I've given that up. Unfortunately discussions with friends have a tendency to go into sexual topics, so what ends up happening as a result is that often I'll remember part of a such a conversation as I'm starting out. Then that'll get distracting because my brain tends to just go pretty much fucking everywhere possible from any thought (for example, to coding, from that conversation, somehow) so I try to push the thought out of my head. If I fail, I stop masturbating because the mood just isn't there and I can't keep it up. If I succeed, unless something else pops in I tend to be able to focus on the feeling. I've basically been trying to figure out whether I'm ace or just have massively low sex drive for the past ten years. I've only ever been in one long term relationship for about two years, late high school/early college when my sex drive was much higher, but even then the sex almost felt like something I felt obligated to do as a young man as much as actually enjoying it. Since then I probably fuck maybe once every 3-4 years and it's always not really that enjoyable. I think I can maybe enjoy sex once in a blue moon, but most of the time there is part of it that feels like an obligation. I still fap to some kinks and bdsm all the time. I generally have no desire to be in a romantic relationship whatsoever, so I'm not on some bullshit "demi sexual" tip. Even with kinks I barely have a desire to pursue them irl. When it comes to sex I also don't get how people are so driven by it...for me it just happens from time to time. And inb4 neet incel etc...I'm above average attractive, people hit on me all the time, but for the most part I purposefully ignore them. I think about it often enough that it would be nice to totally not have any sexual desire at all, that it would lift the burden of having this sort of bastard sexuality. But for now stuck in a grey area.
