Where I live gay men dress rather fashionably, and most commonly you'll find them wearing slim-fit jeans and leather dress boots. Not exactly the same as wear a crop top and other womens clothing.

Also adding - flannel and plaid are not inherently masculine. In larger cities you're most likely to find women, both gay and straight, wearing flannel more often than guys. So transbians wearing plaid aren't "dressing like men". There's a reason why people encourage ftms to NOT wear plaid. Outside of rural mountain towns it's very feminine.
