I graduated with my degree in chem but was unable to find work. I went and worked as a plumber but the company went bankrupt. I then went and worked as a landscaper but the owner shut the company down due to no work. I went back to school for mech eng last year and now I can't find summer work so I'm just unemployed...

Yeah it's kind of useless... at least in Canada. There isn't really a chemical industry here and what little there is is simply oil analysis or basic production which only requires 2-year diplomas. With a degree in either overqualified for all available jobs or underqualified to do research.
I'm planning on starting up my own company to sell chemicals on molport though. I went into mech eng to learn blueprinting and 3d modelling. I'm hoping to design automated reaction chambers for things like anhydrous hydrazine

Yeah I've been trying to get into oil since that's where i live, but it's been tough. What few companies are hiring are making their interview processes pretty damn intense lately though. It's difficult to get through especially with my anxiety. I always mess up the oral tests if they give one.
