I'm a different anon, but I'm in a similar situation. I'm 25 and living with my parents as well. I'm just staying until I'm done with school. I have a part time job, but it's not enough to live on my own. Once I'm done, I'll get a full time job and leave. I'm parents are okay with me staying since it's just them in the house. Regarding souring, even if the fermentation process is done with milk left out in the open next to a stove for a day (as usual), the process involved in making the characteristic smell and taste is the conversion of the lactose to lactic acid. The cited statement in the wikipedia article is "Modern food safety standards mean that milk that has gone sour is considered safe to drink."

All that said, as you may know buttermilk tastes like shit uncooked -- so in the same vein if milk or ricotta or cream cheese etc goes sour I keep it and use it in making pancakes, eggs, cake, or sauce, and of course since I'm cooking those at temperatures well over the absolute minimum of 60C for pasteurization, I'm safe anyway. So if you want to make the best pancakes and eggs every time without having to waste money on buying an entire qt of buttermilk, save that expired milk!

Part of the issue is that front-line units need to each set realistic standards for what is required. Infantry may always have to be able to carry a certain weight a certain distance per day, and that weight is pretty fucking heavy -- there is a minimum carry/weight requirement for men too, and it's not trivial. However, there are other infantry jobs that are lighter and that women tend to perform better at, like as sharpshooters, but that still requires a lot of humping on foot; armor and artillery are a different story. These are not the only bacteria that can cause food-borne illnesses. Yes, they tend to have more severe symptoms/signs, but there are others that can still cause illness: B. cereus, other strains of E.coli, toxin producing S. aureus. You are more likely to contact these bacteria than the "bad types" you listed; those are more under certain environment like the temp requirement you listed. These more common encountered bacteria can grow in a variety of temperatures given that they have their anaerobic/aerobic environments present.
The "bad type" are also uncommon here in the US due to pasteurization and other safety measures, which is why when there is an outbreak of one of those, it's broadcast on the news and major recalls are made. For example: That Blue Bell Listeria nightmare.

Bragg which headquarters a lot of special ops and these guys were not towering muscle men. They were lean and more lanky and many of them were not tall. Rucking is also done in the US army by percentage of weight as a standard (with exceptions of Rangers and some other elite units). Even as an absolute number it's something you can build up very tolerably. I was 120lbs back when I was in, didn't look buff at all, and one time because of a broken scale, rucked 10km at good speed with 50lbs. There's women who can certainly carry more, plenty of them do in mountain climbing and they aren't huge Amazons.
