How do informed consent clinics work? Do I just call them up say I think I'm trans and would like an appointment to get hormones? What do you do when you get there?

U'll have to hand over your boipucci to confirm you are true trans

Well I guess if that's what it takes

Nobody can tell me anything about them and what to expect? :/

It's simple. You go there, you say that you're trans and that you want to transition. They're going to ask you if you're sure, and depending on the clinic they'll either give you a sort of rundown of what hormones do, or ask you directly if you have any clue of what hormones do. Then, when they'll see that you understand what hormones do, they'll prescribe you your meds. It's as easy as that!
Don't be afraid and take your life back in your hands! :)

They're usually super sympathetic and the burden of proof so to speak doesn't exist. They're totally understanding and will answer any questions you may have. If you seem unsure, they might suggest counciling, which they'll very likely recommend, but ultimately it is just a quick way to get insurance to cover the meds, vs buying them online in a DIY fashion. If you've got the option to not get "gatekeeper"'d you should feel inclined to skip that entirely, and absolutely go informed consent route.
You'll be given a piece of paper to initial off on and sign (your legal name) with about 25 bullet points explaining the process, what to expect, the risks, etc.
It should be this way, and since it is yay! Don't get guilted or shamed away from taking control.
Thing is, literally no one is walking in asking for HRT unless they fucking know they're transsexual.

Just phone them and get an appointment, it's always better. Don't be scared. Once it's done you'll laugh at how easy it is to get hormones. You'll be so satisfied afterwards. Getting my hormones prescribed was the best feeling in the world. I was feeling euphoric as hell!
