I'm not entirely sure but I think my enema bag holds 2L.
I usually do the whole thing, hold it for like 10-15mins, expel it, and then to make sure any leftovers are out I just use cold water in my little douche nozzle thing. Just a tiny bit is usually enough to kind of trigger the rest to come out. I usually don't do repeated enemas, I've actually found that to be worse if you can't get the water out.

Depending on how you do it you generally just feel a lot of pressure building up. It doesn't feel too bad though.
