i would argue that vidya fulfills the hunter/gatherer instinct, 4chan fulfills socialization and masturbation is what betas do rather than risk a violent confrontation with an alpha male over potential mates.

Because that question doesn't tackle any sort of connection between video games and a hunter/gatherer instinct. Just because you like doing something doesn't mean your desire to do it comes from a hunter/gatherer instinct. Why do people get addicted to watching TV, browsing the internet, etc? You're also glossing over whole genres of games whose addictive nature comes from more than just an appeal to a hunter/gatherer instinct.
