My last bf was annoying, depressing, and horrible and only brought me down. I'm just barely back to where I was before I met him. Big difference though is that now I have more confidence and am not at all desperate for meaningless empty intimacy so I can pretend I'm "ok".

Being alone isn't as bad as you think... it could actually be a lot worse.

I told him I didn't drink anymore and he literally shoved a bottle of beer into my mouth, tilted it up and said "GET DRUNK SO ILL BE PRETTIER!".
At the time I just laughed it off, because he was really cute, and I thought him being insecure made him cuter... plus it was a good sign I would at least get laid because I thought he was out of my league and that he wouldn't want anything to do with me.
Now I realize it's a major red flag... I learned so many really important lessons the hard way with him. I'd rather be with a guy as ugly as me as long as he's not an insecure pain in the ass. Being with a hot guy who's so insecure he's delusional enough to think he's uglier than you isn't as great as you would imagine... it's no fun at all actually...
