Because they've realized that in the West today homophobia/transphobia hurts their cause more than it helps and have decided to hide their bigotry. It's the same thing that that white supremacists have done since the end of Jim Crow and the desegregation of the American South. Institutionalized racism is no longer a thing in the US (despite what black supremacists and their sympathizers say) and it's no longer socially acceptable to be outspokenly racist, so they go underground and dog whistle it. The ones that don't change their tone become niche groups that the majority of society hates and makes fun of (the status of the KKK today is a good example). This happens on both the left and right whenever a previous policy or ideological tenet becomes socially unacceptable. For instance, in Germany, the East German ruling party Socialist Unity Party of Germany became the "Party of Democratic Socialism" following the reunification and made their best effort to dissociate themselves from East German tyranny in the eyes of the public. They have since merged with their West German equivalent to become Die Linke, who like to pretend they're not connected to East Germany at all.
