I'd say that's incorrect. The first foreign language I learned was Spanish. Then I decided to teach myself some Swedish just for fun and found it was the easiest shit there is. For reference I know English, Spanish, Swedish, Japanese, and some French,

Dutch and Swedish share much less common lexics with English than Spanish does. Not to say that you literally break your tongue when trying to speak those languages. Have you ever tried to speak German? Dutch is even worse

I've found Spaniards much more forgiving when I butcher their language than the French do for a personal example.

Also you can passably speak Spanish aloud by just reading the Spanish words how they would sound in English, just changing Js to Hs.
