Are you not a native english speaker? Girl is commonly used to refer even to women who are young adults (like 18-30) which is where most of the MtFs on this board are. Boy is a lot less common for men older than like 16.

there are alot of women who are 20+ but they still look young, and calling themself a "woman" might seem weird to people who are listening to them and dont know their age, so they refer to themself as a girl, because honestly they still look like a girl. or women who just say girl out of habit, since many keep saying girl into their 20's and other people will refer to them as girls, also.

People usually say the phrase "guys and girls" they dont usually say "guys and women".
