What are people on here's views of androgyny? Like it or not?

androgyny is best
>>7995506
Being a lesbian, I think androgynous girls are cute. It frustrates me when guys are androgynous because some of them are so feminine I confuse them for soft butch women.
>>7995506
indifferent
just don't be obnoxious
>>7995787
Funny, that goes both ways. If you ever want to see a butthurt /femgen/, post an androgynous girl in the thread.
can i be a androgyny
High performance androgyny is so good. I've been doing low performance androgyny so far on account of being ftm and Not A Fan of dysphoria, but as I'll pass more I'll hopefully get away with doing it more properly.
Takarazuka is really good.

what's the difference between high performance and low performance? is this some queer theory shit?
>>7996103
It's something I used to make sense of my own identity/attraction/gender performance. I'm not sure it's at all an accepted theory, but it was really useful to me.
Essentially, it's about how we use gender markers to perform gender socially. Our brains are socialized to put a lot of weight onto sex and gender, so we constantly map people into men/women by way of gender markers; this is what passing is all about.
For example, an MtF might pass either on absence of masculine gender markers, or on presence of feminine markers. Usually it's both, but if you have more naturally occurring masculine markers you'll have to put more energy into your feminine markers to make up for it; you're doing high performance gender.
FtM usually do this the other way around; they rid themselves of any feminine gender markers, but performing masculinity is more difficult than performing femininity since a lot of the traits we associate with masculinity (such as body hair) is naturally occurring in most humans.
Anyway, when I talk about "high performance gender" I'm talking about androgynity where gender markers are *plenty*, but balance each other out, and not as in >>7996039, where the gender markers are few and that's what's causing the androgyny.
>TL;DR:
I prefer "both" rather than "neither".
>>7995506
Well you have people who are naturally born androgynous and then you have people who TRY to be androgynous
>>7996039
You actually look good here.
Erika Linder could step on me and I'd say thank you.

Stopped reading at "our brains are socialized"

I, for one, find that challenging your beliefs and not dismissing people on single statements is very rewarding not only for myself, but also for society at large. But you do you, I guess.
Regardless of whether you consider it a product of socialization or biology, fact of the matter is that a *lot* of gender and sex is performative; women aren't naturally hairless from their eyelashes down. While a lot of trans women shave because it is intrinsically dysphoric for them to have hair, there's also a good chunk who experience the dysphoria associated with not passing and shave for that reason, or because their facial hair reminds them of their natal masculinity.
Society heavily informs how we understand and present gender.
androgyny isnt real there is just overlap in common desireable features for both sexes.
And I'm out. I'll be back if you want me to I guess.
>>7995506
I'm not sexually attracted to androgyny, but I support it from a political point of view.
The world is more than just Chad and Staycey

Fixed it for you.
>tfw find androgynous men and women 300% hotter than masculine or feminine
>mfw this thread
>>8004071
In this thread, definitely. >>7996334 is really the only one that's not quite conventionally attractive, and even then Grace Jones isn't exactly ugly or undesirable. Even >>7996512, who's pretty much the only one who's not stick-thin, is still conventionally attractive as far as symmetry, shape, youthfulness and clear skin etc goes...
>>8004071
Fine, how about: androgyny is just overlap in features for both sexes.
I really wish I could be completely androgynous or at least more soft butch but I feel like tumblr has made androgyny rly uncool desu, like unless you are a model it carries the association of cringe and it makes me sad cause it used to be super rock n roll.
>>8007380
Nooo! As long as you don't dye your hair rainbow, nobody's going to associate your look with tumblr.
Soft butch is best butch.
>>8001722

Yes. Androgyny to the point of not being able to determine sex would be the ideal for myself and for a partner.
