He is a famous german comedian, who happens to be gay and he has several personifications he acts as sometimes. Once he ran for Bundeskanzler (the position Merkel holds) with one of his roles.

He was outed against his will at some point in his carrier and people tried to destroy his reputation with that, but he handled it very well and professionally, so they didn't actually succeed.

What's interesting about NPH is that straight people always praise him for being a cool gay (like Freddy Mercury) because he's not in your face about his sexuality when really that's become his entire public identity since coming out.

Yeah, it's kind of an oxymoron since everything you hear about the guy is how he's a cool gay who doesn't shove it down people's throats or whatever, and no het ever realises they're the ones making it about sexuality now.

It's like if a gay guy isn't a flaming faggot his entire identity will still revolve around being a "regular gay", to the point it overshadows everything else, and he becomes the token anyway.
