here's what I did

>get terrible job, take seriously and work hard
>promoted to manager of fast food
>do nothing but work, get fat bonuses because job is simple to do perfectly if you try
>take fat savings and move to state with trans rights & medicaid expansion
>legal weed, growing trans community
>get therapy/counseling from low-cost gender identity center provider that takes medicaid
>volunteer at local nonprofit, find americorps vista position and become ultrapoor (still using savings for transition, applying for food stamps bc the job of eliminating poverty explicitly pays at poverty level)
>get ssri and hrt from county hospital + medicaid

honestly it's hard and I'm still struggling a bit (no actual friends). it took me far longer to escape the orbit of terrible family/local environment than I like. but I'm actually transitioning and for the first time I feel like I'm getting control over my depression and my life
