I think it's hard to have an accurate estimate because this is still so underreported. Not that it really matters, just thought it would be an interesting discussion. I live in southeast Louisiana and it seems like 1 in every 3 married men is a deeply closeted bisexual. There really are very few openly gay people (except for New Orleans which has more than you could ever imagine).
As for the original train of thought in this thread, I would say like 35% of the overall population.
I think only like 10 % of people are gay but probably at least 50% are bi to some degree.
Maybe the line gets blurred too often. I'm Bi, still really don't know a lot about LGBT culture

Even though LGBT is very much accepted in my country (the Netherlands) I have barely ever seen any LGBT people in real life here.
From what I see in the media I think 2% max
