Because of a certain study I haven't read but that allegedly made a logical leap in its conclusion. The study found that trans women who took spironolactone were more likely to get breast implants because they were dissatisfied with the size they achieved on HRT alone. The women on spironolactone were also said to have more often self-medicated than those who were not. The conclusion reached was that spironolactone causes a higher than expected estrogen for any given dose because of some action it had. This extreme sudden rise in estrogen then fuses the breast buds, limiting their size. I suppose that means the actual milk glands and non-fatty tissues of the breasts. That's why some say to start on much lower than 2 mg of estradiol a day, even without spironolactone. That's all just what I've been told.

Personally, I still believe it.
