I grew up in the united states, in southern california, and currently live in west hollywood. The only other states I've been to are oregon and hawaii. I was planning a trip with my partner to new york, and we'd love to see the rest of the country, and drive across instead of flying.

I hear a lot of horror stories about the rest of the country. How bad is it *really* for people with same sex partners and/or murky gender identity?

Honestly, I would avoid public displays of affection. maybe stop at a Walmart and get some cheap clothes that don't fit perfectly.

If you do both, people mostly won't notice or care.

they'll make fun of you behind your back like polite rednecks. a waitress might come up to you and say something like "I DON'T MEAN TO BE RUDE BUT ARE Y'ALL A COUPLE??? MY NIECE IS BISEXUAL AND I JUST WANNA SAY I THINK THAT'S GREAT OF YOU TWO. blah blah etc" at least I imagine something like that happening.
