This has been bothering me for a while now, ever since one of my friends brought this up to me. Do you think you are born gay? Why or why not?
I have no idea about the research that has been done on this topic, and I have no idea where to start looking either, so links are appreciated.
Personally, I've always thought I was born gay because I didn't choose it, I just always was. But I suppose there could be other explanations for this than being born gay.

I think you have both. You have children who display gay behavior from early childhood. I think that those are born that way.
Then you have those who had an absent father, were bullied and/or molested. I would say that in those cases it is induced.

I think in cases were it was induced the subject may have been bisexual innately, and the trauma tipped the scales to favor one sexual partner architype over another by creating avoidant or compulsive tendencies.
It is a complicated topic, impossible to study ethically with proper controls
